Valentine’s Day is approaching and I wanted to take a minute and tell you about how we celebrate it in Room 3. We DO NOT do individual Valentine cards. I am hoping I am writing to you far enough in advance to save you the money. There is no value in making your child write his/her name 22 times to then bring home a bag full of cards that need to be recycled.
We will celebrate Valentine’s Day in our own way. I will make a big heart for each child and on Tuesday, February 14th we will take time for each child to write a kind note on all the other hearts. I have done this in the past and it is an extremely touching project. At the end of the day each student has a heart with 23 affirmations on it. Watching each student read his/her heart would put Hallmark to shame…. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for joining us today for a great math morning! I am was happy so many families could play games with us. We played:
While we always prefer to play outside, todays indoor recess proved to be A LOT of fun! We took out some new games and made the best of our indoor play time. Twister was a huge hit and they did not even realize they were practicing team work, following directions and left vs right. Mrs. Sontag joined us today and led a lesson on reading comprehension. She read the book The Artist by Tomie DePaola As we read we discussed the things we were thinking and the things we were wondering about. Helping students think about what they are reading (or being read to) is a huge focus this second half of the year Try modeling this when reading at home. Ask your child what the character might be thinking or what may happen next..
Amazing team work at Loker School collecting another 1000 PRIDE teickets! Today we got a chance to complete the best obstacle course in the gym, Many thanks to Mr. O for creating such a fun reward for our school to enjoy. We had 100% participation in snow playing today!!! Thank you for remembering snow pants, boots, winter coats, hats and gloves. It made me so happy to see ALL students building, sliding, (secretly) eating snow and enjoying the benefits of living where we do in winter. So much fun!
Reminder: If you have not sent in a spare full outfit please consider doing so. I am happy to store them for the winter and keep them in case of getting wet outside. Thank you! I hope all my families from Room 3 are having a wonderful vacation. I miss my little faces and look forward to seeing everyone in a few days. Happy New Year to all!
